NOTE: This has been addressed in DaVinci Resolve 18, still valid if you are using version 17.

Due to a limitation in DVR, in order to keep effect timing/animations/drop zones functional it must be used on an Adjustment Clip, not directly on your footage. Moreover, the Adjustment Clip cannot be used directly from the effects browser. Instead, you must drop the AC on your timeline, then drag it from the TL to your Media Pool for future use. From this point use the Adjustment Clip from your Media Pool instead of the one from the Effects browser.
